Information for Parents and Carers
The Derbyshire Early Years SEN team have devised a range of assessment tools for practitioners in settings to use. These include the Celebratory Checkpoints, Small Steps and the ND Progression Framework. These are for use with young children who have significant barriers to learning. All three assessment profiles enable the progress of all children to be recorded and celebrated.
Information for EY Practitioners
The guidance for use documents found in the 'Related Documents' section of this page gives detailed information for each of the assessment profiles. You can use your knowledge of the child and their needs to choose the assessment best suited to their individual needs. Using one of these assessment profiles will support you at a targeted, targeted plus or specialist level of graduated response to children's needs.
The EYSEN service regularly provides training about using these profiles for assessment and to support applications for SENIF (Special Educational Needs Inclusion Funding) and requests for specialist support from our service.
Book on to training via the Derbyshire EYSEN Service Eventbrite page, or through Derbyshire Services4Schools.
All the assessments and guidance for their use are available in the ‘related documents’ section of this page.
For any further information about using these assessment profiles, please contact the Early Years Helpline via EarlyYears.SENHelpline@derbyshire.gov.uk.
