Supported Internships are planned, work-based study programmes for 16-24 years olds who have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP). The programmes of study are supported by an educational provider, and students are supported by a job coach. The Supported Internship is a full time educational course, designed to give students a taste of working life, whilst developing their confidence and work skills.

Supported Internship Campaign Video

Connected Futures in the East Midlands Combined County Authority has launched a campaign video aimed at raising awareness of Supported Internships as a pathway to meaningful, sustainable employment for young adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).  

The video features eight amazing young adults, each filmed on their internship, and sharing what motivated them to take part in a Supported Internship; what a typical day is like; how it has impacted their career goals, and advice they would like to give to someone wanting to start a Supported Internship:
