Adult Care provides a number of universal services that are available to all Derbyshire residents. These include:

Information and advice

Information about the services that are available to support you in Derbyshire can be found on the Adult care services section of Derbyshire County Council website. There is also a range of leaflets that explain our services, which you can download or order from the website.

Signposting

You can contact Call Derbyshire on 01629 533190 to get advice about the services available, or to be directed to brokerage or other organisations that may be able to help maintain your independence.

Brokerage

Our Brokerage team can be contacted by telephone on 01629 537763. They can help you to find suitable local services in your area to meet your particular needs. The Brokerage team can help self-funders or people with a personal budget from Adult Care.

Welfare Rights

The Welfare Rights service can help to ensure you are accessing the benefits and financial support you're entitled to. You can contact the Welfare Benefits helpline on 01629 531535 from 11am to 4pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, or email: welfarebenefits@derbyshire.gov.uk

Assessment and eligibility

If you require an assessment to determine your eligibility for funded statutory Adult Care services, please contact Call Derbyshire on 01629 533190 to discuss your requirements. You can find information about eligibility and assessment on the Derbyshire County Council website. The GOV.UK website provides information on national eligibility criteria and the basis for how decisions are made.

Services available

Adult Care offers a wide range of care and support services. Some of these are provided directly by Derbyshire County Council, while others are commissioned by the department from the independent and voluntary sector:

  • Residential care
  • Extra care housing and supported housing
  • Day opportunities
  • Home care
  • Reablement
  • Carers' support services
  • Equipment and adaptations

If you are assessed as having eligible needs, a support plan will be developed with you detailing the outcomes you wish to achieve, and a budget will be allocated that can be used to purchase the services required. You may need to contribute to your care costs.
