Wheelchair Services

Derbyshire Wheelchair Service

The Derbyshire Wheelchair Services is provided by AJM Healthcare for residents currently registered with a GP in the NHS Derbyshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) area, and who meet the NHS eligibility criteria for the provision of wheelchairs

The service will provide with you all NHS wheelchair services, including:

  • clinical assessments
  • specialist seating
  • delivery
  • repairs and maintenance
  • collection when the wheelchair is no longer required

Shopmobility is a nationwide scheme which lends manual wheelchairs, powered wheelchairs and mobility scooters to members of the public with limited mobility, so they can shop and visit leisure and commercial facilities independently within their local area or shopping centre. Anyone can use the scheme, whether you have a long or short-term disability and you don't need to be registered disabled.

Wizzybug is a fun, innovative, powered wheelchair that is provided free of charge to young children in the UK by Designability, a charity based in Bath. Wizzybug is designed for physically disabled children including children living with cerebral palsy, spinal muscular atrophy, spina bifida or muscular dystrophy, as well as children with amputations or other conditions that affect their ability to walk. Wizzybug is intended for pre-school children of minimum age 14 months and a maximum weight of 20 kg. Families can apply directly via the application form on Wizzybug website. Families on low-income who may need support with the cost of attending their Wizzybug appointment can apply to Wizzybug's Access Fund for assistance.
