What is Inclusion Funding?
Inclusion Funding helps schools in Derbyshire support children and young people who have additional needs but do not have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). It provides extra money to help schools put in place the right support so children can learn, feel included, and make progress.
Who is it for?
- Children and young people in state-funded schools in Derbyshire.
- Those who need more help than is usually available in school.
- It is not for children who already have an EHCP.
How does it work?
- A school professional applies for the funding.
- Parents or carers must give permission but cannot apply for funding themselves.
- A panel looks at the child’s needs and the school’s proposed intervention plan to support them.
- If the interventions are likely to help the child make progress, funding can be agreed.
What kind of support can be funded?
Funding is used for proactive support that helps children:
- Learn and take part in school life.
- Develop independence and confidence.
- Prepare for adulthood.
It is not usually given for supervision or reactive support (e.g. monitoring and managing behaviour after it happens).
